David was born in Port Talbot, south Wales in 1955. He joined the British Army on leaving school and spent 9 years serving in the Royal Electrical & Mechanical Engineers (REME) at various locations around Europe. He left the Army in 1980 to pursue a career in the IT industry and he spent the next 8 years working for a large international computer company. In 1988, he immigrated to Australia where he continues to work in the IT industry in Brisbane. David was inspired to offer his assistance when he came across the Foundation’s web site whilst researching a potential holiday in Chiang Mai and he has since become a member of the 500 Club.  He hopes to be able to assist the Foundation buy its own land and buildings. Having brought up two children of his own, he believes that having solid roots provides a sense of safety and consistency that is so important in childhood education. He says “It would be great if each child ended up being a doctor or an engineer or a scientist etc but  it would be even better if they ended up as great parents and role models for their own children”. When he looks at the pictures on the web site and sees the smiles on everyone’s faces he knows that the fund raising effort is going to be worthwhile.

He also says "My goal is to make a difference; to get that feeling of having achieved something.” He is planning on using the power of the internet and e-mail to raise awareness of the Foundation and reach the 100,000 people who would be willing to donate just $1each to reach his target figure of $100,000 by the end of November 2009, just 6 months, when he then plans to visit Glenn and Ros and all the kids at the Foundation in Lamphun and present them with whatever he has managed to raise. All it takes is for those 100,000 people to take action just like him to assist him reach his target. If you would like to help David achieve his aim and also help Croston House Children’s Home in doing so, you can contact him at oztaffy@yahoo.com.au
